2008-09 PROGRAM OF WORK - Heroes Happen Here
1. Unmask the Leader Within
- Use your leadership skills to recruit new members. The Executive Council recommends increasing Colorado membership by 15%.
- Take your leadership dynamic by becoming involved in the National Program, Dynamic Leadership. The Executive Council recommends building character and educating peers about essential leadership skills.
- Make your leadership involvement soar. The Executive Council recommends participating in Take AIM (Active Involved Members) and other leadership training activities.
2. Strive to Unite Family Forces
- Improve relations within your family. The Executive Council recommends developing a Power of One project for the “Family Ties” unit.
- Recognize the importance of families within society. The Executive Council recommends completing a National Program, Families First, project to learn skills to become strong family members.
3. Activate Your Super Career Powers
- Take Family and Consumer Sciences knowledge beyond the classroom and into the community. The Executive Council recommends becoming involved in at least one intra-curricular project.
- Network with current Alumni and Associates members to build connections with adults in the workforce. The Executive Council recommends increasing Colorado Alumni and Associates membership by 100%.
- Explore FACS careers and related occupations. The Executive Council recommends becoming involved in the National Program, Career Connection.
4. Save the Day for Tomorrow
- Implement the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) in your everyday life. The Executive Council recommends starting by reducing shower time, reusing shopping bags, and recycling glass and/or plastic bottles.
- Become more active in your community. The Executive Council recommends continued involvement in the National Program, Community Service, and needs your help to raise $14,400 to meet Colorado’s state officers’ goal for 2008-09 for the national outreach project, Feed the Children.
- Become a wise consumer in financial decisions. The Executive Council recommends becoming involved in the National Program, Financial Fitness.
